NYPL Climate Change Reading Group: Welcome

Resources for readers of the U.S. Climate Report

Welcome to the resource guide for The New York Public Library's
Climate Change Reading Group!

Without intervention, in twelve years the effects of global warming will become catastrophic, resulting in drought, floods, and other environmental conditions that will impact hundreds of millions of people.  Our collective response must transcend nationality and political ideology.  If you would like to become more informed and engaged on the issue of climate change, join the Climate Change Reading Group!

The New York Public Library, together with Melville House, is hosting a monthly group for the New York City community to read the Climate Report, published in 2018 by the U.S. Global Change Research Program, and discuss its findings and implications.  Each meeting will be devoted to a specific issue (renewable energy, water supply, etc.) and will feature a guest speaker to kick off discussion.  After the meeting, attendees can view selections from the Library's environmental archival collections and see how present-day activism is tied to a rich historical context.

The Climate Report is available for free online, at the Library, and for purchase.
