Finding Pictures in the Picture Collection: Subject Headings

These subject headings give an overview of the richness of the collection; however, the subject terms assigned to pictures are often different from the term you might expect. Please consult the staff at the Picture Collection, who are always happy to help you locate files with pictures on the topic of your choice.

The right column on these lists of subject headings, titled "Code", provides the call number of each picture file subject. Picture files are arranged on shelves alphabetically by these call numbers.
