Having a space to make and exhibit your work is just as important as making the work itself. These organizations strive to give exhibition space and studio space to New York City artists. Whether that's through New York City residency programs that offer studio space as part of the award, or simply having exhibition space for artists by application, they could have an impact on your work and shows.

ChaShaMa

ChaShaMa is an arts organization that seeks to connect artists to unused real estate for studios or event space. Workspaces are rented at an affordable price, and exhibition space is available for free. They have spaces all over the city that artists can apply for

NY Artist Equity

New York Artists Equity is a membership based arts organization. It was created in the 1940s with the goal of addressing inequality in the art world faced by primarily African-American artists. Painter Jacob Lawrence was a founding member. Today, it aims to support emerging and underrecognized artists in the vast New York arts landscape. While they are still a membership based organization with certain privileges for members, they also posts open calls for grants and exhibitions, so any artist can submit work.

ArtHome / ArtBuilt

ArtHome is an arts nonprofit that leases out affordable studio space to artists and arts nonprofits located in the Brooklyn Army Terminal, in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The organization also provides financial literacy workshops on a variety of topics specifically for artists and creative workers.
