The Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound: SPECIAL SERVICES

A discovery and access guide to Recorded Sound collections at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts

Audio and Video Duplication

Within copyright restrictions and under special conditions, NYPL's Copies and Reproductions department will duplicate recordings for a fee. Recordings that qualify for this service must no longer be available from commercial distributors, out-of-print dealers, or circulating library record collections.

Please Note: The Library will only duplicate commercially released recordings if the items are rare or one of a kind. For unpublished recordings, the Library requires written permission from the proprietary rights holder. Find additional details and the audiovisual request form on the Copies and Reproductions Audio & Video web page.

Low Resolution Scans

Within copyright restrictions, the Access Services staff will email low-resolution scans for free.
To order scans of research collection items, please fill out the LPA Research Copy Orders form.

Lectures,Tours, & Personal Instruction

Our staff is happy to conduct talks for professional associations and student groups with an interest in recorded sound studies. We also give private tours of the stacks where our collections live and offer personal instruction on how to use NYPL resources to find collection materials by appointment. Email recordedsound@nypl.org to schedule an appointment!
