Go, Guide to Pleasant Motoring was first published by Andrew F. Jackson & Associates in 1952. Similar to Travelguide, Go was marketed towards the black elite, with cover images of beautiful, well-dressed black couples driving high-end cars down scenic highways. Go started with a pocket-sized guide and published by regions. The size of the guide gradually increased to a full-sized periodical with recommendations for tourist attractions and hotels. Many advertisements for dining, entertaining or lodging establishments would include a photograph of the manager or owner to show that they were black-owned or run. You can access the digitized version of Go, Guide to Pleasant Motoring for the year 1952 with the New York Public Library Digital Collections. Years 1953-1959 are available in the Jean Blackwell Hutson Research and Reference Division.
