Career Change & Occupational Information: Career Cruising

Resources for finding career change and occupational information.

“Find out what you like doing best, and get someone to pay you for it.” — Katharine Whitehorn

Career Cruising is a database that enables you to learn about career possibilities and outlines the steps needed to achieve them. It is a comprehensive bilingual (English and Spanish) interactive multimedia source that features profiles and information on hundreds of occupations, 2 and 4-year college and universities, and financial aid (including scholarship opportunities). It is accessible with your NYPL card and PIN. After you enter your library card number and PIN, you have to create an account to use some of the database's features. Read that vendor's privacy policy. The New York Public Library does not store the information you enter into this database.

Find career and occupational information on this database by following the steps below.

Explore Careers

Explore careers by using the occupation alphabetical index, choosing a school subject to see which careers it might lead you to, choosing a career cluster, choosing an industry, or completing the Career Selector questionnaire to find careers that might meet specific criteria.
