Introduction

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture is devoted to the research, preservation, and exhibition of materials focused on African American, African Diaspora, and African experiences. As one of the three research libraries of The New York Public Library, the Schomburg Center features diverse programming and collections spanning over 11 million items that illuminate the richness of global Black history, arts, and culture. This resource guide introduces researchers to some of our poetry collections, poets in the collection, and poetry books in our collections. Materials related to poetry can be found throughout different research divisions. This guides will outline some significant and noteworthy items as well as ways to search for more materials.
