Getting Started Using The New York Public Library's Research Collections from Home: The Catalogs

This guide is intended for remote users of the research units of The New York Public Library, particularly the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building

 

The Research Catalog  provides access to the holdings of The New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and to select materials from the library collections of Columbia University, Harvard University, and Princeton University.

Our Scan & Deliver service offers remote access to portions of our collections.

If you are visiting in person, you can request onsite material be ready when you arrive by completing the Advance Form.  You can also request onsite items when you visit and they can usually be retrieved from our closed stacks in 30-45 minutes.

 

 

The Encore catalog is best used to access the circulating collections of NYPL., for books, DVDs, CDs etc. that can be borrowed and taken home.
