This guide covers how to find cartographic materials related to the internal boundaries, districts, and zones of New York City.

Emergency Services

Using maps to look at emergency services that are provided for each neighborhood in NYC, some questions you can answer include: 

  • Where are these organizations located within a neighborhood?
  • Is there equal distribution of stations throughout each zone?
  • Are there patterns of where stations are located? 
  • How can we utilize existing data in relation to these maps?

Map of police precinctsWhen using the Online Research Catalog:

For current information about NYPD and its precincts, please use NYPD's site. Some specifics include:

  • To find your current precinct or sector, please use NYPD's Find Your Precinct and Sector portal.
  • A listing of phone numbers and locations for each precinct can also be on the NYPD's site - click here.
  • CompStat 2.0:  Provides statistics that are categorized by police borough and precinct in this portal.

Additional resources include:

  • NYC Crimes Map: In the tab titled "Layers," click "Crimes by Police Precinct" to get a breakdown on the data of crime based on the district that each precinct covers.
